The Small House on Ellirey Island

Description

Ellirey (Elliðaey) is a small island (110 acres) off the southern coast of Iceland. The region is known as the the Vestmannaejar archipelago. There are lots of theories about who may own the house, some have even connected it to the singer Bjork or a lavish billionaire, but these theories have been recently debunked. In fact, the island has been uninhabited since the 1930s, but has been used as more of a base for the Elliðaey Hunting Association who built the house in the 1950s. The house does not have plumbing or electricity, but does boast a sauna that is fed by natural rainwater. Image Sources: Pinterest and Wikipedia Commons
