Description

In 1974, paleo-anthropologists Donald Johanson (Cleveland Museum of Natural History) Yves Coppens and Maurice Taïeb discovered the remains of Lucy "near the village Hadar in the Awash Valley of the Afar Triangle in Ethiopia." The Lucy specimen is reportedly 3.2 million years old. She got her name from the Beatles 'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds,' which they say the archaeologists played a lot during the excavations.
