Description

Tel Megiddo is one of the most famous tels, or artificial man-made mounds, in Israel-together with Tel Jericho. It is comprised of 26 layers or strata of human settlement going back thousands of years. It was heavily fortified by King Solomon and it has been witness to many battles before and after. Christians associate the place with Armageddon where the final battle will begin, according to the Book of Revelation. The Megiddo National Park is located about 20 miles from both Haifa and Nazareth in the Jezreel Valley.
