Qasr el Yehud is the official name of the Christian baptism site on the Jordan River just east of Jericho. The area is holy for Christians as the place where John baptised Jesus, Many believe that Joshua and the Israelites crossed into the Promised Land here, The site and facilities are administered by the Israeli Civil Administration and the Israeli Ministry of Tourism.
