Description
Bethlehem, or the "House of Bread" in Hebrew, is located just south of Jerusalem in an area under the control of the Palestinian Authority. It is the final resting place of Rachel, the Matriarch, as well as the place where David came from and would later be crowned the King of Israel. For Christians, it is most holy as the birthplace of Jesus in a grotto in what is today the Church of the Nativity.
