The World’s Oldest Meteorological Station

Description

"The Tower of the Winds" still stands in Athens today. It was built in the 1st century BCE by the astronomer Andronicus of Cyrrhus of ancient Macedonia and is considered to be the oldest meteorological station in the world. Quick Facts: it's an octagonal tower that stands 13.5 meters (44.3 feet) high, has 8 meters (26 feet) diameter and it is made from Pentelic marble.
