The Mount of Olives in Jerusalem is an important landmark located east of the Old City of Jerusalem with a beautiful panoramic view of the Temple Mount The Mount gets its name from the olive groves that still grow there since Biblical times. The Mount of Olives is holy to Jews as it contains the most ancient cemetery still in use. It is also holy to Christians as it includes Gethsemane and the place of the Ascension. Many believe that the mount is closely connected to the arrival of the Messiah!
